Ramona Peters
Ramona is a Bear Clan member of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe and founder of the Native Land Conservancy. Previously she served her tribe as the Tribal Historic Preservation Officer, Museum Director, Indian Education Instructor, NAGPRA (Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, 1990) Director, researcher, and as a member of the Traditional Chief’s Circle. A master potter, her work has been collected internationally including by the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and the The Box Museum in Plymouth, England. Ramona has a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Arizona and a master's degree in Applied Human and Community Development from the California School of Professional Psychology. Ramona lives in Mashpee, MA in the home she was raised in.
Dr. Jason Mancini
Dr. Jason Mancini, currently serves as the Executive Director of Connectitcut Humanities. He previously served as a Senior Researcher of the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center, before becoming its Executive Director. Mancini has a Ph.D., as well as an M.A., in Anthropology from the University of Connecticut. He has been a Visiting Assistant Professor of History at Brown University and an Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Anthropology at UConn.
Majel Peters
Majel Peters is a Mashpee Wampanoag communications professional with 20 years of experience working in marketing and design, and a Master's candidate in the Digital Humanities program at the CUNY Graduate Center. Majel’s work has included the development of strategy, messaging, and creative direction of non- and for-profit organizations and campaigns for clients including Feeding America, The National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), and Reporters’ Committee for Freedom of the Press (RCFP).
As part of her coursework at CUNY, she developed, with an exceptionally talented team of collaborators, More Than Surviving, a digital database showcasing Wampanoag political and social activism in the antebellum era.
Forever inspired by her mother, Ramona Peters, she is currently engaged in refocusing her professional skills through a lens informed by her cultural background.
